Early morning departure with breakfast included
Your adventure begins with departure from Bayahibe and Punta Cana towards the Bay of Miches. To start the day well, a simple and delicious breakfast is offered before boarding: sandwiches, pastries, and drinks to fuel up before the adventure.
Morning at sea meeting the majestic whales
We board a motorized catamaran specially equipped for whale watching. Accompanied by an expert guide, we will navigate into the heart of their breeding zone for 2 to 3 hours.
Humpback whales are known for their spectacular acrobatics: impressive jumps out of the water, fin slaps, and magnificent dives. You will experience a unique moment, full of wonder and respect for nature.
Around 1 PM, we return to land to enjoy a traditional lunch in an authentic setting.
On the menu: fish, chicken, rice, pasta, local vegetables, and tropical fruits. All accompanied by fresh drinks, for a well-deserved relaxing break.
Ascent to Montaña Redonda in a safari truck
After the meal, we continue our adventure by boarding a safari truck that will take us to the top of the famous Montaña Redonda.
During the ascent, admire the spectacular landscapes of the Dominican countryside before reaching this unique summit, offering a 360° panoramic view of the ocean, Samaná Bay, and the lush tropical forest.
Montaña Redonda is famous for its swings suspended at the edge of the cliff, providing thrilling sensations and incredible photos!

When is the best time to go whale watching in the Dominican Republic?

Where do the whale watching trips take place?
The whales migrate to Samaná Bay. Our excursion departs from Miches, south of the bay, which avoids a long journey to Samaná, especially for travellers staying in the Bayahibe and Punta Cana areas, while guaranteeing the same spectacular sightings.
How long does a whale watching excursion last?
The full day lasts from approximately 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The excursion includes transfer from Bayahibe or Punta Cana, breakfast upon arrival, 2½ to 3 hours of whale watching at sea, lunch in a typical restaurant, and then the climb up Montaña Redonda.
Return around 5 p.m. for travellers staying in Punta Cana / 6 p.m. for the Bayahibe area.
Is it guaranteed that we will see whales during the excursion?
We work in partnership with a specialist agency that tracks whales and informs us of the best times to start and end the season. This means that sightings are almost guaranteed, but it is still a natural phenomenon: it is extremely rare not to see any.
Do you need to book whale watching trips in advance or can you do so on the spot?
It is strongly recommended to book in advance as the season is short and places are limited.
What types of boats are used for whale watching?
We use a spacious, comfortable and safe motorised catamaran that can accommodate up to 40 to 45 people for a friendly and environmentally friendly outing.
Do whale watching excursions comply with animal welfare and safety regulations?
Yes. We strictly follow the standards set by the International Whaling Commission so as not to disturb the cetaceans. Boats maintain regulated distances and navigate gently.
Is the excursion suitable for children?
Yes, but only for children aged 6 and above, as it is a long day and requires attention. Children love discovering whales and enjoying the fun experience of Montaña Redonda with its famous swings at the top.
What is included in the price of the excursion?
The price includes:
- Return transfer from Bayahibe or Punta Cana.
- Breakfast on arrival before boarding.
- Whale watching cruise (2½ to 3 hours).
- A typical Dominican lunch at a local restaurant.
