SAONA ISLAND – THE 3 BEACHES

Discover Saona Island in a small group

Set off to discover Saona Island in a different way, with this exclusive English-speaking excursion aboard a stable and fast motorized trimaran, combining paradise landscapes, cultural encounters and natural immersion. This day—both cultural, relaxing, and ocean-based—will allow you to uncover the island’s hidden gems, far from the crowds of mass tourism.

Located in the heart of the Cotubanamá National Park, Saona is one of the most iconic islands in the Dominican Republic. Lined with white sand beaches and lush coconut groves, it attracts travelers seeking relaxation and tropical beauty. But beyond its postcard landscapes, Saona hides natural and cultural treasures rarely explored in classic tours.

A departure on a trimaran for a fast and comfortable crossing

First, you will board a fast and stable trimaran. Unlike large traditional excursions, this crossing guarantees more comfort and less sailing time. This way, you can fully enjoy the marine landscapes while quickly reaching the most beautiful sites of Saona.

First stop : Mano Juan, a village frozen in time

Your first stop takes you to Mano Juan, the only inhabited village on Saona Island. This small village of Dominican fishermen lives with the tides, with no cars or paved roads. The colorful houses with palm roofs, children’s laughter, and the warm welcome of the locals will offer you a true immersion. You’ll visit the sea turtle conservation center, committed to preserving this endangered species. It’s a rare opportunity to understand the island’s unique ecosystem and support an important environmental cause.

Lunch with your feet in the sand

On an idyllic beach, sheltered from the crowds, you’ll enjoy a typical Dominican lunch, prepared with fresh ingredients: grilled fish, chicken, rice, salads… All served with your feet in the sand, facing a turquoise sea. A pure moment of relaxation in a tropical setting worthy of the best beach resorts.

Canto de la Playa : a natural gem for snorkeling

Next stop: Canto de la Playa, often considered the most beautiful beach on Saona Island. Nicknamed “the doctor’s beach” by locals (in reference to an Italian doctor who used to visit), this remote and hard-to-reach beach has kept its wild charm. In the shade of coconut palms, this hidden cove is lined with an exceptional coral reef. With mask and snorkel, explore while snorkeling to discover colorful tropical fish, sea stars, and intact corals. A true paradise for fans of underwater exploration.

A grand finale at the natural pool of Las Palmillas

Finally, to end this unforgettable day, head to the natural pool of Las Palmillas. This turquoise lagoon, lined with palm trees, is the perfect place to relax.

While you enjoy a last drink in a friendly atmosphere, keep your eyes open! You might have the chance to spot starfish in their natural habitat.

The week-long trip was Top, a good mix of rest on beautiful and little-known beaches and islands and very authentic excursions (very different from mass tourism excursions) and very interesting with Top guides who are both discreet, joyful and very rooted in Dominican life...
LUCIE
We embarked on a one week trip organized by Tropical Evasion with my parents and boyfriend over Christmas. The entire trip was designed by Joy to satisfy all of our (very different!) wishes…food, activities for everyone, relaxation etc. The day trips were all very unique, authentic and fun...

What an unforgettable adventure!! 🤩 Our experience with Joy was amazing! It was able to meet our expectations exactly and quickly, unlike other tour companies who constantly added additional fees to us. Everything was included, we didn't have to pay any extra fees on the spot...
Nicolas G.
Waterfalls, paragliding, kitesurfing, zip lines, buggies... In terms of thrills, we were won over, not to mention the breathtaking landscapes! As a diving enthusiast, our expectations were very high, but what can we tell you other than that we have never done such a perfect dive? The conditions were great, we saw wrecks, holes with a depth of more than 30 meters, fish of all kinds, including starfish, rays, etc...
